Digital Photo Picture Frames – What to Look For When Buying
By Rich D. Fan

If you’re looking for a very personal gift to give a significant other, a good friend, or close family member, why not consider a digital photo frame? Not only do they look great sitting on a desk or mantle, but unlike all those other traditional picture frames, people will actually look at these photos! Digital photo frames attract lots of attention, because since they are a seeming changing, moving light source, and they produce bright colors that simply draw people in to look at them.

Digital photo frames also let you create slideshows with awesome transitions to display all of your vacation, business or party pictures. In fact, many of these devices employ the use of Bluetooth, Wi-Fi, and even have video and audio so you can play little video clips of your adventures. And here’s a great idea for the frequent flyer or the friend that lives overseas. Many of the new digital photo frames are network enabled so that you can upload your pictures from your hotel room in Los Angeles, and they will automatically show up on the digital photo frame in your living room in Washington DC! That’s cool! This can be especially useful if your work takes you overseas, as it’s a great way to stay in touch with the family. It’s also popular gift for the “away from home student”.

For the high-tech guru in your family, you may want to consider a full-featured digital photo frame that has a built-in web browser, shimming Internet radio and text newsfeeds. These Wi-Fi enabled photo frames, usually cost a little bit more, but for the techie, it’s well worth the money. Many models even have dedicated e-mail addresses so that someone in a faraway country can directly upload photos to your picture frame by e-mail.

Digital photo frames have only been around for a few years but have gained popularity quickly. You can see them all over the place in the bargain stores at quite a range of prices. However, if you are gift giving, you will want to give a quality gift that will last them for you years and years. With that being said, you also don’t want to simply look for name brand. When choosing a digital photo frame. Just because it’s a name brand you are familiar with, it doesn’t mean that the menus will be easier to maneuver, or the resolution of the pictures will be any better. It’s not a bad idea to go on cnet.com and read some of the latest reviews. You definitely want to watch out for some of the cheap models made in China, because although they are indeed digital photo frames, the resolution is often poor and the picture just doesn’t look very good. Here are a few tips for selecting the right photoframe for your special person.

You go to the trouble to take the nicest pictures, maybe edit them a little bit, and then display them in a photo frames. So you might as well get a digital photo frame that has sufficient resolution to do the picture justice. Many of the cheaper photo frames out there may be attractive because of the low price, but beware flimsy construction, and above all, a low resolution that will tell your loved one in its own way, how little you paid for it. Do not buy a digital photo frame with a resolution lower than 640×480. The larger the numbers the better! The other thing to consider is the aspect ratio of the frame. Most digital cameras shoot 4:3, which is the standard rectangular type of shot. There are also 15:9 widescreen photo frames, however with this type, if you upload a standard picture, the picture frame will automatically cut the top and bottom of the picture and stretch the sides out, so it’ll fit in the frame.

The last thing in perhaps the most important thing is the looks of the frame. You can get frames that look like they have a stainless steel finish, brushed aluminum, oak or cherry wood, or even a painted finish. Your digital photo frame should be able to sit either portrait style or landscape style, and be durable enough to last years. Make sure it has an easy to use menu, and that uploading images to the picture frame is a snap, whether simply inserting the SD card from the camera, or uploading to the photoframe via Internet.

Online Digital Photo Printing
By Ken Marlborough

Digital photo printing is the process of developing digital photos into prints. Online digital printing first uploads images to a photo service provider’s website. Prints are ordered stating your preferences. Online printers use huge professional photo printers such as Fuji Frontier Digital Minilab or machines of similar type. A relatively new process of developing prints is known as giclee printing; this is quite a color-accurate way to develop digital prints. The prints are instantly delivered through email. Shipping costs are charged if delivered by other means.

As digital printers are cheaper, printing can be done at home using a printer of your own choice but can be quite expensive. Online Digital Photo Printing is a viable alternative. Online printing is faster, reliable and free from risks.

In order to get better prints, most of the online print services use high quality Kodak paper or comparable paper. For a large number of prints, it is better to go use a high-speed Internet connection such as a DSL (Digital Subscriber Line.) That way, you will not spend all day walking around your computer while your photo files upload.

Nowadays, online digital photo printing is becoming more and more popular. The growth in technology and the wide use of the Internet have made many improvements in the printing techniques. There are a number of online print services. Based in San Francisco, Snapfish is one of the most commonly used sites, and Shutterfly, Kodak Easyshare Gallery, Agfanet, Ez Prints, and Fujifilm.net are some of the other popular print services.

What Do You Want From a Digital Photo Frame? Tips Before You Buy
By Dave Joa

So you have already decided that you want to display some of your best digital photos that you currently have on your computer on a digital photo frame. This is a great decision as showing off your photos electronically in this way is one of the best ways to display them. Your images on a photo frames will just look so good!

The best thing is that you can display all your digital photos easily whenever and however you want instead of having to print them or view them on your computer. By using a digital photo frame to display your best images you can have them displayed in a slide show that you can setup yourself, so the actual image you see will change every few seconds. This makes for an incredible way to show off your best or favorites photos.

Getting your pictures onto a most digital photo frames is easy as they can display the photos directly from your own digital camera’s standard memory card. Some of the more expensive digital picture frames do more than this and will allow you to transfer your photos into their own internal memory storage. Getting your images into the storage area in the digital frame is usually done by downloading your images directly from your computer via a USB connection.

Some of the more recent digital picture frames also provide you with a remote control so you can change what you see or the order and frequency in which the images are displayed by using a simple handset to change the settings on your electronic photo frame. Some can also play music at the same time as displaying your photographs and you can load up the music that you want to her yourself quite easily.

Don’t go crazy and buy too many digital frames though as the effect of seeing a lot of bright photo slide shows at the same time can be a little overpowering, but if that’s what you like then go for it! This is a great technology and the control and settings are actually quite easy to use. It just takes a bit of time sitting down with the user guide and working out how they work. Once you have mastered this you will soon realize that they really are a lot of fun and not too difficult to master.

What you put on your photo frame is entirely up to you but many owners get the greatest enjoyment from their favorite photos initially, but after time they will load up other photos to increase and change the variety of images that are displayed.

Just watch out for glare when you are positioning your digital photo frame. This applies both during the day when the sun is out and from your room lights at night. If you take this into account it should be easy to put your digital frame for the best results during the day and at night.

And before you buy your photo frame display decide how much you want to spend and what features you really need. One of the main things that determine how much you will have to pay is the size of the display screen and as you might expect the larger screens will cost you more.

But don’t be fooled by a bigger display that looks cheap as you also need to check the resolution of the display in order to make a realistic comparison. A cheap large screen display may be low resolution and the picture you see may not be that clear, so do your research before you buy.

The best place to buy is online, so just search for deals on digital photo frames to get the best price on a new digital frame. Look and compare the different sizes and resolutions as well as the features that you really want. Also make sure you checkout the digital photo frame bestsellers as these have proved to be very popular by the many happy owners who have already bought them.

Digital Photo Recovery From Caplio GX100 VF KIT Camera

Digital Photo Recovery From Caplio GX100 VF KIT Camera
By Simpson Raid

Caplio GX100 VF KIT is a compact digital camera with 10.01 mega pixel CCD combined with an advanced image-processing engine to capture low noise high quality pictures, 24 to 72 mm equivalent wide zoom and a removable electronic viewfinder.

The storage media of the camera are its own inbuilt memory, MMC, and SD card. These storage media tend to be corrupted due to both internal and external errors resulting in loss of data. At such times, there arises the unavoidability of using an efficient Photo Recovery Software.

Suppose, you took some photographs with Caplio GX100 VF KIT; and now, when you try to see or transfer them to your PC, you are startled by the appearance of an error message something like the following:

“Card Error”

After this error message it becomes clear that your photos are either lost or inaccessible, and each attempt to access them prompts the same error message repeatedly.

Causes:

The above error message could have appeared due to one of the following errors:

Using unsupported MMC or SD card,
Pulling out of the card during read/write process,
Using a card not formatted for use in Caplio GX100 VF KIT,
Using a corrupted or damaged SD card, MMC or internal memory.

Solution:

If the problem is due to using SD cards or MMCs unsupported by the camera, changing for a supported one is necessary. Every new storage medium needs formatting first for it to be usable. If you are using an unformatted one, format it. If your internal memory, SD card or MMC is corrupted or damaged, you need to change the device for a good one. If the problem was due to removal of the device while read/write process is in progress, your photographs are corrupted and hence inaccessible at best, or lost otherwise. This condition needs reformatting of the storage device; but this command will erase all the photographs the safety of which is your primary concern.

Luckily, the lost photographs can be recovered by using an updated data backup process. However, if backup process is not available, or it fails you will need to use some powerful Photo recovery software. Digital Photo Recovery programs are developed employing highly advanced scanning and recovery algorithms to recover lost digital photographs.

Stellar Phoenix Photo Recovery v3.2 is designed to recover lost photo, audio, and video files of various formats from almost all storage media. Compatible with Windows and Apple Mac operating systems, this self-explanatory non-destructive Digital Photo Recovery program saves the recovered data in a user-specified location without modifying or overwriting the original files.

Simpson Raid has 6 Years of Experience in the Software Technology researching with Stellar Info. System Ltd which offers photo recovery software, photo recovery, digital photo recovery and Mac photo recovery.

Learn Digital Photography – 4 Keys to a Great Photo
By Wayne G Turner

What defines a great photo? And what do we have to consider when creating a great photo? There are several things we need to consider before we press the shutter. But before considering these elements take time to think and ponder the scene or subject you are shooting.

Great photos are not determined by a set of rules, but, by using the rules you go a long way to creating that great image. Some people say that rules are made to be broken. I think that once you know the rules you can push the boundaries and create even better images.

There are four criteria here by which you can judge your efforts.

1. A good image has a distinct subject.

It stands clearly apart from the rest of the content. It’s easily identifiable and unmistakable when someone looks at the photo. When you look at the image can you immediately see the subject? Does it say to you, “I am the subject”? I may be over simplifying this point but you need to understand the importance of a subject in a photo.

2. A good image is uncluttered.

It’s ordered and has no distractions that will draw the eye away from the subject. In one word the photo is simple. Everything else draws the eye and supports the main subject in the photo. There are no distractions and everything that does not contribute to the subject is eliminated. Watch the edges of your image carefully when looking through the viewfinder and make sure there is no clutter.

3. A good image focuses the eye of the viewer by drawing attention to the main subject

It makes the subject stand out and shout, “I am the subject”. When looking at a photo the eye is drawn to a particular place in the image. It’s at this point where the subject should be placed, the focal point as it’s known. Anywhere else in the image would just be wrong. This is not a rule or guideline of photography but generally where a person’s eye is naturally drawn in that particular image.

4. A good image positions the subject in the best possible place.

This is done by using the rule of thirds. If you can imagine dividing the image horizontally and vertically into three. Like a tic-tac-toe or noughts and crosses grid. Where the vertical and horizontal lines intersect are points. It’s at these points that you place your subject or point of focus. It will bring balance to the image and please the eye of the viewer. If it’s a landscape image then the horizon should run along one of these lines. Never place an horizon slap bang in the middle of your image.

By taking these simple criteria and applying them diligently to you photography you will eliminate the negatives and allow your real creativity to come through. They will only help support a good composition and are not the only keys to a great image. Use them as a checklist before you press the shutter and you’ll clear the way to great photography.

How to Straighten Images in Corel Photo Paint X4
By Nathan Segal

Image straightening is a new feature that allows precise positioning correction of images that have been poorly photographed or incorrectly scanned.

Before You Get Started

The first step is to have a look at the controls. At the top of the dialog box are are the tools that control the postioning of the image. They are the Rotate tools, the Pan tool and the Zoom In/Out, Zoom image to fit and Zoom image to normal size.

On the right of the dialog box are the various image straightening controls.

These are Rotate Image. This allows you to manually rotate the image by usingn the sliders or numeric entry. You can rotate the image to a maximum of -/+ 15 degrees.

To crop and straighten the image, enable the check box the the Crop image heading. This setting crops the image and preserves the aspect ratio of the original image.

If you want to preserve the width and height of the original image, enable the Crop and resample to original size check box. The image will be resampled to the original size after cropping.

The Grid. When this checkbox is enabled. a grid is placed over your image to help with straightening it. You can change the cell size of the grid and you can also change the color. In addition, you can make use of the Zoom and Pan tools to position your image, making it easier to straighten.

Below the Straightening Options area is the Hints pane, which gives you information about each tool in the dialog box. To learn more about a given tool, hover your mouse over it. The information is displayed in the Hints panel. At the far left of the dialog box is the Reset button, which you can use if necessary.

Straighten Image in Practice

Click on Adjust: Straighten Image, which brings up the following dialog box. This shows the default image before any adjustments have been made.

In the dialog box below, I’ve changed the color of the grid to black, increased its size and moved the image around in the window using the Pan tool. After that, I straightened the image. Once you’re satisfied with your corrections, click OK to apply them.
